Chemical Engineer IV

• As the Development Engineer, you will help guide excellence in our manufacturing processes, using your expertise to improve production, ensure quality standards, and contribute to our mission of shaping the future of aerospace. This position is located onsite in our Sylmar, CA. facility.
• The successful candidate will collaborate with a cross-functional team to improve the optical quality of transparency articles and to automate the corresponding processes via Robotic development. 
• Cross-team collaboration and high level of communication are needed for correct interpretation of the data and efficient delivery, throughout the project.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts is highly desired.

• Research and development to improve existing aerospace transparency systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Robotics and Automation development
• Responsible for measuring, documenting, and improving current manufacturing process capabilities. Perform complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, or techniques, and may assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment.
• Continuous improvement; use data-driven approach to implement improvements in the manufacturing areas for process stabilization, repeatability, control, efficiencies of labor, and time and cost reduction in scrap and rework
• Create process flow maps, support manufacturing operators with tools and equipment, with all necessary documentation
• Utilization of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DOE, FMEA, and value stream mapping

• Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in a STEM or related field with two or more years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering (or equivalent) required
• Familiarity of Automation and Robotics and relevant programming languages
• Microsoft Project and SolidWorks experience preferred
• US Person (UC Citizen or Permanent Resident)
• Ability to travel up to 10%
