What is the CFTSS Program?
CFTSS, or Children and Family Treatment Support Services, is a Medicaid-funded mental health program for children up to age 21. The program provides support in home, community, and school settings, focusing on emotional, social, and behavioral issues NOT academic problems. The goal is to help prevent the worsening of mental health and behavioral conditions through early intervention.
What are CPST service?
The Community Psychosocial Support Treatment (CPST) provides services as a mentor to the child to develop skills to function independently in the home and community settings. A social worker will create a treatment plan with specific goals for the child's needs, such as addressing anxiety. The goals are focused on emotional, social, and behavior needs. For example, if a child is anxious about getting on the bus, the social worker would write a treatment plan with goals to address the child's anxiety. The CPST provider can use a variety of methods as long as it's appropriate and effective. For a child with anxiety, this can include role-playing exercises to help the child cope.
