Chief Investment Officer

About the Company
AlphaGrep is a quantitative trading firm focused on algorithmic trading in asset classes across the globe. We cover the global markets by leveraging and integrating technology, risk management and quantitative research.

We are one of the largest firms by trading volume on Indian exchanges and have significant market share on several large global exchanges as well. We use a disciplined and systematic quantitative approach to identify factors that consistently generate alpha. These factors are then coupled with our proprietary ultra-low latency trading systems and robust risk management to develop trading strategies across asset classes (equities, commodities, currencies, fixed income) that trade on global exchanges.

We are seeking a Chief Investment Officer for our office in China. The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) is a pivotal executive role responsible for overseeing the investment strategies, fundraising efforts, risk management, and client relations of the firm. The CIO will lead the investment team, evaluate and optimize trading strategies, ensure effective risk allocation, and communicate investment insights to clients. This role requires a strategic thinker with a robust understanding of quantitative trading, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in investment management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to attract and retain investors. Cultivate and maintain relationships with potential and existing investors. Prepare and present compelling investment proposals, pitch decks, and performance reports to prospective investors.
  • Assess and review the performance and strategies of internal trading teams. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to optimize trading strategies and improve performance. Ensure alignment of trading strategies with the firm's overall investment objectives.
  • Design and implement a robust risk allocation framework. Monitor and adjust risk exposures across different trading strategies and asset classes. Ensure that the risk allocation is consistent with the firm's risk tolerance and investment goals.
  • Oversee the firm's risk management practices, including identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential risks. Develop and enforce risk management policies and procedures. Conduct regular risk assessments and stress tests to ensure the firm's resilience to market fluctuations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding investment strategies and performance. Provide transparent and timely communication to clients, addressing their concerns and queries. Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster trust and loyalty.
  • Generate innovative investment ideas and strategies to enhance the firm's portfolio. Stay abreast of market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments to identify new investment opportunities. Collaborate with the investment team to develop and implement new trading strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine existing investment strategies to maximize returns and minimize risks. Leverage data analytics, market research, and technological advancements to enhance strategy performance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the investment team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment management, with a strong background in quantitative trading.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising and investor relations.
  • Deep understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CFA, CAIA, or other relevant certifications are preferred.
