About the Role:

As part of our business growth ambitions, we are looking to build out our People & Culture capability from a team of two to five. Reporting to Vicky, our Head of People & Culture, we are hiring our first People Operations Manager to join our team. You will play a critical role in the team, with accountability across all areas of the employee life cycle, and an opportunity to have big impact as we enter this next phase of growth. Responsible for building strong collaborative relationship with stakeholders to provide an excellent employment experience and providing generalist and specialist HR advice and guidance to our colleagues, managers and leaders. We are a small, yet nimble team so responsibilities are not divided by functions – you’ll get exposure across all teams!

Here’s what the role involves:

Employee experience policies:

  • Own all P&C related materials, ensuring that all our documentation & handbooks are constantly up to date with the latest company processes & mandatory policies. Making recommendations for policy changes to keep ahead of market trends is a key aspect of this role.
  • Oversee the company disciplinary and grievance policies
  • Partner with the key leaders during the performance review cycle to manage the company wide process, providing reporting & insights, making talent recommendations for development opportunities and ensure smooth running of the process, using Culture Amp.

Employee experience processes

  • Advise and coach managers on all aspects of core HR processes including performance management and development, talent management, compensation, HR policies, etc.

Employee relations

  • Provide ER advice to managers of all levels compliant with employment legislation and HR policies/procedures, gradually taking on more complex cases as needed
  • Be alert to changes in employment law or requirements

Reward

  • Co-ordination of salary benchmarking data for annual reviews including liaison with managers

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

  • Be an active member of our diversity working group, leading on key initiatives from gender pay gap, to education across the business.

Data, insights and systems

  • Manage HR tools and systems to help simplify HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Draw insights from data to improve processes, employee engagement and policy alignment across the business

Partnering & Team Collaboration

  • Partner with P&C colleagues in talent acquisition and the wider people team to deliver a best in class, modern, proactive experience for the company
  • Partner with leaders and managers to build and maintain a strong company culture that attracts & retains talent on any people related matters, policies, or procedures
  • Mentor and support more junior members of the people and culture team

Requirements

About you:

  • Worked as a People Operations Advisor or People Operations Manager within a larger team, ideally gained in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate proven ownership in either a start-up or scale up organisation
  • Great relationship skills with the ability to influence and drive change. Be a visible colleague supporting managers and employees across all functions
  • Excellent analytical skills that will help inform and drive decisions
  • A great team player with a one team mindset
  • Proactive, with a creative approach, willing to challenge the ‘norm’ to deliver P&C work that is long lasting
  • Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects alongside day to day operational People activities
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and latest HR best practice
  • Commercially minded

What to expect next:

Our interview process is fast and goes like this:

  • An initial call with a Head of People & Culture (one hour)
  • Interview with HR Consultant and Senior Leader (one hour)
  • 30min conversation with COO
