Job Summary
The I&E Shop Technician I is an introductory position in the field of instrumentation and electrical maintenance. The I&E Shop Technician I will work with other technicians in the run out of low and medium voltage panels, assist with repairs and maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Panel Assembly:
- Learn to build wire control panels based on engineering drawing, specification, and customer requirements.
- Learn the ability to ensure panels meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Component Selection:
- Ensure appropriate electrical and electronics components, including sensors, relays, switches, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), for panel assembly
- Acquire the skills to evaluate and select components based on functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Wiring and Termination:
- Safely and accurately wire panels, ensuring proper termination, grounding, and insulation.
- Be able to follow established wiring diagrams and schematics, maintaining high-quality workmanship throughout the process.
- Quality Control:
- Learn to implement stringent quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of the assembled panels.
- Acquire the skills to identify components and finish panels to maintain the highest standards of workmanship.
- Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct thorough testing of completed panels to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Identify and troubleshoot any issues, making necessary adjustments and repairs.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, assembly procedures and test records.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive records are kept for future reference.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical education or certifications in mechanical or instrumentation is a plus).
- Proven experience in a similar control room operator role or natural gas compressor field experience.
- Familiarity with gas compression systems and equipment is desirable.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation principles.
- Ability to interpret data and identify anomalies.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and field personnel.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including rotating shifts and weekends.
- Reliable and on-time attendance.
- Adherence to safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to prevent operational disruptions.
