About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing Microsoft SQL databases, performance tuning, and providing innovative solutions to meet business requirements. This role will involve a hybrid working arrangement. Please note, this is an hourly paid contract to hire role.
What You’ll Do:
· Administer and manage Microsoft SQL databases and related software programs; design and develop DBA components.
· Perform database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
· Install, patch, and upgrade SQL Server databases; develop SQL program instructions.
· Provide consulting, interfacing, and training for information system users.
· Collaborate with business users and application end users to understand reporting requirements and develop innovative solutions using various web interfaces and programming tools.
· Import, export, and back-up data between different software programs as required.
· Perform software enhancement testing prior to release for production use.
· Develop, maintain, and enhance intranet software.
· Review and analyze database design and integration of systems; recommend enhancements and/or improvements.
· Develop procedures and standards relating to database management; monitor transaction activity and utilization.
· Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies; work safely in accordance with established procedures and practices.
· Track and resolve database-related incidents and requests.
· Review service-related reports (e.g., database backups, maintenance, monitoring) daily to identify and resolve service-related issues within established SLAs.
· Respond effectively to database monitoring alerts and escalations.
· Collaborate with application, business, and database teams to develop well-defined and strategic solutions to recurring problems.
Qualifications & Interests:
· Proven experience as a SQL DBA, with a strong background in managing Microsoft SQL databases.
· Expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
· Experience with SQL Server installation, patching, and upgrades.
· Strong knowledge of SQL programming.
· Excellent consulting and training skills for information system users.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with business users and application end users.
· Proficiency in data import/export and backup procedures.
· Experience in software enhancement testing and intranet software development.
· Strong analytical skills for reviewing and improving database design and integration.
· Ability to develop and maintain database management procedures and standards.
· Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Understanding of legal and regulatory compliance related to database management.
· Strong incident tracking and resolution skills.
· Ability to review service-related reports and respond to alerts effectively.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop strategic solutions to recurring issues
