General Summary
The Assistant Cameraperson is responsible for assisting in the set-up, operation and maintenance of Studio cameras and equipment on a stop motion animated feature film.
Job Functions
- Communicate logistics of shot set ups with Lighting Cameraperson, Assistant Director and Animator.
- Perform intermediate motion control operation.
- Delegate assignments as necessary to trainees or other assistants to further the workflow.
- Publish completed shots for each day in accordance with agreed upon protocols.
- Launch shots in a timely manner.
- Ensure that camera plus related equipment is set up in a safe, operational and efficient manner for each filming day.
- Work with Artists and crew utilizing the stage space.
- Move cameras and/or lighting equipment as assigned and operate camera equipment as directed.
- Take ownership of action items and follow up to ensure filming schedule is not delayed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Camera Assistant.
- Experience in stop motion animation preferred especially at feature, episodic and commercials level.
- Knowledge of on-set animation and motion control.
- Working knowledge of camera and lighting equipment and an understanding of camera angles and lighting techniques.
- Proficiency with Dragonframe software.
- Ability to multi-task, switch tasks quickly and efficiently as priorities change.
- Ability to combine creativity with technical skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment safety.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels within the organization.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Detail oriented.
