Purpose of Position:

We are seeking a Specialist Developer Programmer (Data Engineer) to join our Perth, WA team. The Specialist Developer Programmer (Data Engineer) is a key role in the delivery of Hexagon’s One Platform interoperable data vision.

You will have a proven track record in data engineering and you will have the opportunity to change an industry – to enable that industry to improve how it works with data across it’s entire value chain.

The Specialist Developer Programmer (Data Engineer) responsibilities are;

• Champion best-practices and drive adoption of Hexagon’s data standards.
• Ensure data definitions are clearly defined and easy to consume
• Enable the delivery of data-interoperability across the entire mining industry value-chain
• Ensure data definitions, classification and versioning are managed
• Identify and assist in defining new high-value data definitions ready for data science applications
• Identify, design and assist in building and maintaining automated data pipelines and transformations
• Developing data enablement infrastructure
• Implementing security and privacy measures
• Monitoring and troubleshooting
• Work with BI report developers, data analysts, and data scientists to identify gaps or improvements to data definitions.

• Review, validate and contribute to technical documentation relating to the deployment of new data definition releases.

• Provide accurate estimates of remaining work.
• Compliance with Hexagon’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures, participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and safety of himself / herself and the safety of others.
• Other duties as required from time to time.

Required Experience:

• Understanding of the principles, tools and programs required for modern data enablement.
• Experience with engineering, reporting, analytics, cloud, visualisation and/or machine learning.
• Experience analysing data in relation to data engineering projects.
• Experience in writing and maintaining technology and data documentation.
• Understanding of Mining environment.
  

Desired Experience:

• Experience working with defined data standards.
• Experience conducting data analysis and preparing reports.
• Experience working with cloud and on-premise data pipelines.
• Experience with data lakes and data lake tools.
• Experience with coding languages and tools such as SQL, NoSQL, Python, PySpark, Airflow, Azure, AWS, CloudFormation, Restful API, Postgres, MongoDB, Snowflake, Tableau, Docker, JFrog, Bamboo, Batch and Shell.
• Integrating services across multiple cloud vendors
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms
• Experience in working with data warehouses and data lakes
