Job Description
The Food Technologist reports to the Senior Food Technologist and serves as one of the key experts for all ingredients in the HelloFresh portfolio. This role requires intermediate knowledge of food technology and product development. The Food Technologist is essential in executing the product roadmap by developing new ingredients, from initial scoping to supplier collaboration on testing and reformulation, and performing post-launch performance analysis.
The role focuses on continuously optimising the ingredient portfolio and quality based on customer insights, cost, nutritional values, and operational complexity. Ultimately, this role contributes to enhancing the customer experience that aims to positively impact AOV (Average Order Value) and AOR (Average Order Rate).
You will…
- Manage the end-to-end sensory assessment process, including organising sampling sessions, preparing samples, and steering conversations for qualitative feedback.
- Document and report findings, decisions, and actions from sensory evaluations.
- Provide feedback to suppliers and foster collaboration on ingredient quality improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Analyse and report on the performance of ingredients in menus, collaborating with Culinary, Procurement and FSQA teams.
- Identify and address ingredient quality and consistency improvement opportunities with procurement and suppliers.
- Drive process and tool improvements, support product development goals, enhance team engagement, and contribute to SOP documentation and knowledge sharing.
You have…
- 1-2 years experience in food technology, sensory testing, product development or similar role.
- A diploma or degree in a related field (e.g. Food Technology, Food Science, Dietetics, Product Development)
- Vast knowledge and interest in food: strong understanding of local and broader New Zealand taste profiles, culinary trends, and preferences in addition to a passion for cooking.

Start Date: Immediately available - Can wait a notice period
Duration: 8 month fixed term contract. You must have the right to work full-time in New Zealand.
