The role
As a Data Engineer at Galileo, you’ll work closely with service owners, product managers, and others to build out a world-class analytical platform. As a long-time leader in the payments space, Galileo has raw data that spans over all aspects of payments, including transactional card data, payment dispute cases, patterns of fraudulent activity, and more. Using cutting-edge tools in the cloud, you’ll assemble, model, and analyze these datasets to develop unique insights for both internal users and our clients.
What you’ll do:
- Contribute to the design, orchestration, and development of ongoing data science projects from data ingestion to presentation
- Work with platform engineers and others to develop tools/frameworks needed to carry out projects
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Synthesize insights from raw data
- Build dashboards and other visualizations; communicate findings internally and externally
- Research new data engineering and analytics methodologies with minimal guidance and support from other team members
- Build ad hoc pipelines and infrastructure in the cloud to unblock analytical projects as needed

- Write, test, and deploy efficient, scalable code to production that impacts millions of individuals
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
- Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software developers.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Statistics, etc.)
- 2+ years of experience in a major database environment
- Fluency in SQL for data queries
- Data modeling experience using Snowflake and familiarity with relational database design
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: dbt, Airflow, etc
- Experience with AWS-managed services such as DMS, Lambda, S3, AWS Batch, etc
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, java, etc
- Experience in building dashboards and analysis using IBM Cognos, Looker, Tableau, and related tools.
- Experience in complex SQL query optimization and schema refinement.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.

$96,000—$150,000 USD
