Constellation Schools are seeking a highly-qualified Building Cleaner in Lorain/Elyria, Ohio, responsible for the overall cleanliness of the building.
About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities of the Building Cleaner include:
- Ensures cleanliness of restrooms by emptying trash, mopping and disinfecting floors, cleaning and disinfecting sinks, cleaning and disinfecting mirrors, cleaning and disinfecting toilets, urinals, and pipes, replenishing soap, tissue, and paper towel supplies, periodically checks that restroom fixtures are in proper working order, cleans doors and partitions, spot cleans walls and ceiling, cleans baseboards, cleans radiators or vents, cleans light fixtures.
- Ensures cleanliness of classrooms: vacuums carpeted areas, sweeps and wet and dry mops floors, empties trash, cleans sinks and faucets (if applicable), cleans windows and glass on doors, dusts ledges and other surfaces as applicable, cleans shades or blinds, cleans ceiling fans.
- Ensure hallways, entries, common areas and utility areas are clean: sweeps/dust mops, vacuums entryway carpets, cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, dusts ledges, display cases, cleans windows and door glass, cleans fixtures, mops floors, disinfects lockers.
- Cleans office area: sweeps or vacuums floors, empties trash, dusts as needed.
- Monitors the building and reports issues to the school principal or assistant principal, such as minor repairs, floor maintenance needs, carpet cleaning needs, broken windows, doors with locking issues, painting needs.
- Assists with the cleaning of student illness related fluids, ensures proper clean-up and disinfection policies are followed. Follows appropriate and necessary procedures, utilizes personal protective equipment when handling any accidents.
- Models appropriate behavior and encourages students and staff to contribute to the cleanliness of the building.
- Ensures custodial supply room is in order and organizes custodial inventory. Ensures supplies are on-hand, requests supplies as-needed, may be responsible for receiving supplies at the building.
- Removes minor debris from the grounds as-needed to ensure exterior appearance of the building is appropriate, picks up trash, etc. as-needed.
- Ensures cleaning products are safely stored and used according to proper methods. Refers to Safety Data Sheets as needed.
- Completes assigned training, including but not limited to SafeSchools Training.
- Handles other duties as assigned.
About You:
- Must remain calm under stressful situations.
- Able to follow routine instructions.
- Must follow duty and procedures schedule and checklists
- Minimum of 6 months cleaning or custodial experience preferred.
- Must understand the use and application of cleaning products and chemicals.
- Proficient in relevant computer applications. Must have basic skills to respond to emails, clock-in//out via an online timekeeping system.
- Accuracy in keyboard skills and proven ability to enter data with attention to detail.
- Able to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Problem solving skills: able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
- Interpersonal Skills: able to maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas and exhibit a willingness to try new things.
