Edinburgh House, Hollinsbrook Way, Pilsworth, Bury BL9 8RR  

Hours: 

40 hours per week  

 

 

Role Overview:  

The JD Foundation is looking for a passionate and proactive leader, with a commitment to improving the lives of young people across the UK, who will provide strategic vision and operational leadership. You will take overall responsibility for the management and administration of the Foundation, working with the Board of Trustees to help them fulfil their vision, strategic objectives and governance duties.  

Through effective leadership, you will be responsible for delivering the JD Foundation’s strategic plan and enable the development of a sustainable and resilient organisation, raising its profile and awareness of its charity partners. Leading on the organisational development of the JD Foundation will be a key aspect of this role; developing a team who can deliver the Foundation’s objectives, and be responsible for people management, performance, training and development. In addition, you will support the board of trustees to ensure all policies, procedures and systems are compliant with relevant legislatio and following the Charity Commission guidelines.  

This role requires an exerienced manager who will bring expertise and enthusiasm to deliver JD Foundation goals and ambitions.  

 

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • In collaboration with the Board of Trustees, continue to develop and embed a long-term vision and strategic leadership for the JD Foundation, by managing the implementation of the 3-year plan and annual operating plans 
  • Provide visible leadership to the JD Foundation, raising its public profile both internally and externally, as well as that of all charity partners 
  • Lead organisational planning, prioritisation and performance assessment against the vision, mission, values and objectives of the JD Foundation 
  • Ensure the JD Foundation fulfils legal and regulatory responsibilities by overseeing charity governance practices, including; governing documents, policies, structures, conflicts of interest, risk management and financial oversight  
  • Lead on income generation to ensure the JD Foundation meets agreed targets, including both internal and external fundraising opportunities and events 
  • Responsible for both colleague and volunteer recruitment, in conjunction with the Board, developing a team structure that will deliver key objectives 
  • Provide leadership, motivation, supporting and guidance to all stakeholders connected to the JD Foundation and well as overall responsibility for managing relationships with partners, funding bodies, service users and other local, regional and national stakeholders where appropriate  
  • Representing the JD Foundation on behalf of the Board at meetings, events and in the media  
  • Engage regularly with strategic and operational Boards, preparing relevant papers and reports for meetings and providing timely management of information, recommendations and organisational risks to the Board/s 
  • With the Chair of Finance, ensure effective financial management including forecasts, preparation of budgets and allocation of income 
  • Ensure rigorous quality assurance and governance measures in place  

Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed: 

  • Committed to the development and support of young people 
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others to deliver the best experiences for young people in the community 
  • Knowledge and experience at a managerial level within a Charity, preferably a Charitable Foundation 
  • Charity reporting and governance with financial management and budgeting skills 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with experience of working at board level liaising with executives and trustees 
  • Proven people manager with ability to develop a team to achieve the Foundation’s objectives 
  • Flexible to work outside ordinary office hours i.e. evenings and weekends for events if required 
  • Confident to represent JD Foundation at public events and ability to work with media relations
