The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
The successful candidate will be able to:
Coordinate all nursing care for patients preparing to undergo and recovering from an invasive procedure or surgery
Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes while maintaining a family centered experience
Contribute to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care
Collect patients health data - Complete vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergy review, inquire of past medical and family history, and document this information in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
Analyze assessment data in determining patient problems
Develop a comprehensive plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes and implement interventions identified in the plan of care
Participate in the completion of provider orders by accurately performing venipuncture and EKGs, appropriately applying ambulatory cardiac monitoring, correctly selecting and documenting medication samples, and patient education as directed by nurse or provider.
Evaluate patients progress toward attainment of outcomes and preparation for discharge
Assist with the plan of care, evaluate, modify and coordinate care, and communicate well with other disciplines
Complete refill authorization requests daily
Maintain and stock exams rooms with supplies
Clean and disinfect patient rooms
Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with the Board of Nursing
Maintain confidentiality with all information
Perform any and all other duties as assigned
Skills
Candidate must have minimum 3 years' OR RN experience (acute care hospital setting).
Circulating experience in all surgical specialties required. Scrub experience highly preferred.
EHR documentation experience required.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills
Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions and demonstrate maturity and accountability
Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others
Ability to remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful or crisis situations
Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
More than 1 year of acute care experience.
State or compact nursing license.
