Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Insurance Defense Litigator to join our team. As a successful candidate, you will manage and lead the entire legal process, with a team of associates and paralegals. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and experience in insurance defense litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
-Engaged Legal Professional:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the legal process from initial investigation through trial preparation and court proceedings.
- Represent clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Negotiate settlements as required, ensuring client interests are well-represented and protected.
-Strategic Partner:
- Conduct thorough research on applicable laws, regulations, and case precedents to develop effective legal strategies for each stage of litigation.
- Collaborate with claims representatives and insured clients to share legal strategies and insights, providing guidance and support throughout the litigation process.
-People Person:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with claims representatives, insured clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Occasionally conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments to share knowledge and enhance understanding of legal processes and procedures.
- Engage with diverse communities and ensure that all perspectives are valued and considered in legal strategies.
-Effective Communicator:
- Develop and present clear, concise, and actionable legal opinions and strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, and other court filings with attention to detail and accuracy.
-Insurance Defense Litigator Experience:
- Demonstrate proven experience as an insurance defense litigator, with a track record of handling complex cases and achieving favorable outcomes.
-Time Management:
- Be familiar with billable hours and proficient in capturing and documenting time worked to ensure accurate billing and compliance with firm policies.
Requirements:
- Legal Bar Certification: Must be currently barred in New York.
- 7-10 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- High proficiency in legal drafting and effective communication.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with legal case management software and tools.
