About the role

We have a unique opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Custom Shop Sales team, remotely based in Southern or Central Europe!  Reporting to the Custom Shop Sales Team Leader. This role will primarily be responsible for selling specific Fender Brands product lines into allocated sales areas whilst maintaining effective account management for all customers. They will be expected to be a product evangelist with a keen eye for detail, using data to recognise opportunities for commercial achievement. The Business Development Manager will manage the end-to-end relationship between a dealer and the Fender Business, liaising with and owning the relationship and communications to and from all internal departments.

Hybrid Working

Post COVID-19, Fender is working under a hybrid flexible working arrangement, with most employees working both from home and the office. Main Responsibilities

  • Make regular sales calls to Custom Shop Showcase accounts in the assigned area and keep in contact between visits by telephone and e-mail.
  • Act as a consultant for Custom Order instruments for Showcase dealers and BDM’s in the wider Fender network.
  • Work closely with the Product & Operations team on order quoting, order management and scheduled deliveries.
  • Strive to achieve budgeted sales targets for the allocated sales area.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Responsible for all visual merchandising and product representation in-store and online to comply with company requirements and regulations.
  • Responsible via all channels for delivering product knowledge training to retail account staff.
  • Maintain control of dealers’ stock ensuring correct stock levels are maintained, new products are presented, and orders are scheduled.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge for Fender Custom Shop instruments.
  • Create long-term development plans for the Custom Shop dealer network, including growth drivers and associated contact strategy based on those projections.
  • Build dealer knowledge of social campaign methods and partner with the dealer to create impactful social campaigns with key product activation.
  • Strong knowledge of e-commerce mechanics, tools, and techniques to accelerate sales performance.
  • Keep up to date on the latest channel trends and dynamics and apply this knowledge to dealer plans and interactions – relay these insights internally to drive corrective actions.

Person Specification

Essential skills, experience, and education:       

  • Fluent in Italian and/or French
  • Proven experience within account management roles
  • Knowledge of the Musical Instrument Industry 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise work and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Driving licence.
  • High level of FMIC product knowledge

Desirable qualities:

  • Additional European languages.
  • Guitarist and/or bassist.
