TEAM
Arene's mission is to simplify vehicle software development and increase developer agility by creating tools and processes which allow novel uses of vehicles without compromising safety. Arene is the new exciting vehicle development platform we are building to simplify vehicle software development and increase developer agility to enable novel uses of vehicles.

The System Testing Framework (STF) team is responsible for automated software validation in an integrated, distributed environment. It aims to automate distributed automotive systems as a part of Vertex, which realizes the "shift-left" of software development and provides technical support to software engineers in liaison with hardware and software suppliers.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
As a software engineer, you will develop an e2e test framework for distributed systems testing, including CLI and SaaS solutions, API and UI validation systems and integration with internal virtual vehicle system. You will be an engineer in the system test framework team, designing and providing engineering solutions and mentoring peers and juniors. You will work well in the team, and have a strong commitment to quality. You will report to the Manager. This role's workplace onsite in Japan, working in the office at least 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be ready to dive-in and learn across the technology stack and use experience to develop solutions with sound design principles, extensibility, and quality in mind while collaborating with multiple partners
  • Design, develop and maintain backend services, reusable software components, test frameworks and tools written in Python and Golang
  • Work closely with the leadership team to agree on technical and product activities and delivery milestones
  • Promote best practices while contributing to continuous improvement of the team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of experience producing maintainable services and software in Golang
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (preferably in GitHub or GitLab), and in containerization (Docker)
  • Operate across multiple teams, and navigate technical ambiguity with only high-level direction
  • Excellent English (business level) and people engagement skills

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience producing complex, maintainable software in Python
  • Full life-cycle product development: from product-market fit, to production deployment
  • Experience creating and deploying SaaS applications on cloud (preferably with Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Bilingual English and Japanese communication skills
  • Knowledge of testing and quality management systems (preferably ISTQB certified)
  • Experience delivering automotive software
  • Security-conscious software design and implementation
  • Familiarity with the ISO 26262, SOTIF, FUSA, or other standards for functional safety
