The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking an Assistant Dean of Evaluation & Assessment. They work closely with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to perform curriculum mapping, implementation and evaluation, student assessment, program evaluation, and quality improvement. Responsibilities will include tracking the Strategic Plan goals and Accreditation standards, and development and oversight of student assessment and evaluation systems. The Assistant Dean will collaborate closely with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Faculty Affairs, and Enrollment Services leadership to foster synergistic and mutually beneficial collaborations leading to school-wide continuous quality improvement.- This position is Exempt.
- This position reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Essential Job Functions:- Ensure accreditation requirements within Academic Affairs for ongoing curriculum-related data collection, evaluation, improvement initiatives, and outcomes development and management are met.
- Update leadership on data trends, quality improvement, and retention-related matters.
- Work closely with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to facilitate strategic changes in the curriculum to enhance and improve medical education based on outcomes data and analysis.
- Coordinate with the Offices of Preclinical and Clinical Education to integrate the clinical and bio-medical sciences into the complete curriculum strategic plan for the College’s academic program.
- Lead the mapping of goals, objectives, and content of all required sessions throughout the four years of the curriculum.
- Identify and engage with appropriate external entities that may participate in and further the curricular goals of the College.
- Identify faculty development needs relevant to enhancing the quality of the curriculum and communicate them to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
- In collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services and other stakeholders, develops, implements, and maintains common definitions for graduation rates, retention rates, and other data required by various constituents to normalize data requests.
- Facilitate, develop, and institute innovative programs and methods to aid outcomes analysis and quality improvement in medical student learning, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
- Work with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and other academic leadership to provide data and metrics supporting initiatives for faculty, students, and staff in medical education scholarship.
- Provide analytical support to Academic Affairs in the planning and completion of Annual Program Reviews and Academic Program Reviews as required.
- Apply advanced analytic techniques to identify drivers and trends within the school and develop response strategies.
- Analyze trends related to at-risk students and provide data to Enrollment Services, Student Affairs, Faculty Affairs, and Academic Affairs leadership to inform the development of preventive, remedial, and supportive programs.
- Develop and implement a data-driven outcomes and assessment plan to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of co-curricular initiatives and recommend changes to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs as necessary.
- Direct course and faculty evaluation processes and implement electronic tracking and dissemination of related data.
- Serve as Academic Affairs liaison to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services & Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness for data access and collection.
- Serve as Academic Affairs liaison to the Curriculum Committee and Student Performance Committee.
- Work with Student Affairs and Advising Colleges to provide recommendations for student support related to overall learning and improvement of Boards performance.
- Maintain active connections with peer and industry partners to stay apprised of new and emerging academic technologies in a way that directly informs innovation and investments in education; serves as Progress IQ and other instructional technology administrator.
- Supervise the Testing Center staff and testing resources; serves as ExamSoft administrator.
- Plans for and manages the annual budget for the department, including ExamSoft and external curricular and Board preparedness programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of best practices related to higher education program outcomes assessment, curriculum, student achievement, teaching, and learning.
- Proficiency in Statistical Analysis Programs (i.e. SPSS, SAS, etc.)
- Demonstrated skills in setting strategic priorities, achieving goals, and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.
- Ability to develop, carry out, explain, interpret, and enforce policy.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative data-driven retention practices leading to improved student achievement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong history of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external personnel at all levels.
Minimum Qualifications:- Doctorate in an appropriate area of specialization. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
- 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Preferences:- Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Assessment, Policy, Teaching, Statistical Analysis or Higher Education preferred.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data management systems.
- College teaching experience in medicine or another scientific discipline.
