Greenhouse Associate
The primary responsibility of the Greenhouse Associate is to perform hands-on tasks and duties related to greenhouse work and plant experiments and facility cleaning, while ensuring compliance with all existing safety and stewardship standards in the area of greenhouse plant research.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Perform general greenhouse work independently, such as making pots and flats, planting, watering, fertilizing, tying/trimming plants for upkeep, seed harvesting, seed threshing, seed counting and maintaining various crop plants according to specific protocols as directed by Greenhouse Specialist and Program Specialist.
Maintain and clean greenhouses and work areas.
Assist with collection of plant tissue samples under supervision, according to specific protocols.
Utilize data management applications to collect and record data, under supervision.
Use electronic equipment (barcode scanners, cameras, seed threshers and seed counters)
Perform pest control including insect scouting, pesticide/herbicide application, beneficial release, and integrated pest management techniques.
Comply with Stewardship and Biosafety requirements and QMS directives and protocols
Follow SOPs/Work Instructions
Operate equipment and maintain appropriate documentation
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors in a Life Science field with minimum experience, AA with minimum 4 years experience, or Non-degreed with minimum of 9 years experience in plant biology or equivalent
Experience working in a greenhouse environment and/or solid understanding of plant growth and development.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and communicate problems and/or deviations.
Demonstrated ability to follow defined procedures and work in a team environment.
Organized and self-driven. Can work with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills.
Proficiency in computer skills: Microsoft Office and databases.
Able to work 40 hours per week in fluctuating climates and lift 50 pounds.

SEED LOGISTICS ASSOCIATE
The primary responsibility of the Seed Logistics Associate is to perform routine day to day hands-on tasks and duties related to seed handling & processing; data entry & data transfer in electronic databases; greenhouse work and facility cleaning & care in compliance with existing environmental, health, biosafety and stewardship standards
Location: Research Triangle Park, NC
Pay rate: ***-*** depending upon experience
Medical Clearances: Respirator Non-SCBA, Pesticide exam
Tasks and Responsibilities
Perform general seed processing work independently, such as seed harvesting, seed threshing, and seed counting according to specific protocols or as directed by Seed Logistics Specialists and group Lead.
Maintain and clean seed logistics work areas.
Assist with packaging of seed requests and shipments under supervision, according to specific protocols
Assist with greenhouse tasks such as collection of plant tissue samples, plant care or greenhouse care under supervision or according to specific protocols.
Utilize data management applications to collect and record data.
Use electronic equipment (barcode scanners, cameras, seed threshers and seed counters)
