Everyone belongs at OVO

At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity's biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.

Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:

We’re hiring world-changers. The Regulation team plays a critical role in understanding and influencing the boundaries within which we operate, ensuring we are able to affect and adapt to industry change. Our clear focus is to enable OVO to drive progress and support customers on our Zero Carbon journey.

This role in a nutshell:

You’ll play a crucial role in OVO’s engagement with the energy industry using your knowledge of industry codes and regulatory frameworks to support OVO in delivering its strategic objectives and meeting Plan Zero ambitions in an evolving regulatory environment. You’ll work with colleagues and subject matter experts across the business to analyse and understand industry change, and ensure OVO’s voice is heard.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Monitoring and analysing key industry changes: consuming a range of information sources to monitor, analyse and interpret regulatory and governance changes across the energy sector, including changes to industry codes such as the REC, SEC, BSC and UNC
  • Driving internal collaboration and awareness: working with a range of internal stakeholders across OVO’s operational and energy teams to understand the impacts of key industry changes through coordinated impact assessments, ensuring the business is well informed on upcoming changes and associated commercial and operational risks and opportunities
  • Supporting OVO’s governance framework for energy code modifications: work with energy operations leads and other internal stakeholders to develop and maintain a robust energy codes governance framework
  • Representing OVO externally: working with relevant internal stakeholders to develop proactive engagement strategies, including submission of robust responses to code modifications, seeking value through code modification proposals, and attending relevant industry working groups as necessary
  • Leading OVO’s regulatory support for industry-wide change programmes: providing dedicated regulatory support to OVO’s programme teams on matters of industry change, initially focussing on Market-wide Half Hourly Settlement (including attendance and input to MHHS-related working groups, associated regulatory submissions, and the development of key regulatory positions)

You’ll be a successful Industry Change Manager here at OVO if you…

  • Have a good understanding of the energy industry, including the regulatory framework and how it is governed
  • Experience of the Market-wide Half Hourly Settlement programme, including knowledge of its purpose, objectives and progress to date
  • Are comfortable working on multiple things at once ranging from the more straightforward horizon scanning to complex sector-wide projects
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly explain the complex, and comfortable engaging at all levels both internally and externally
  • Are a good relationship builder, comfortable working collaboratively in cross-organisational teams to deliver objectives and provide a strategic viewpoint to bring different areas of the business together
  • Have the flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment within a highly regulated and evolving sector
  • Are a great team player and self-starter comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver team and business objectives
