Senior Costume Technician

We are currently recruiting for the position of Senior Costume Technician for Disney Cruise Line.

You will report to the Technical Production Manager and have an average of 2 direct reports.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the costume team in the care and maintenance of all Entertainment and Programming “show costumes”. Duties to include (but not be limited to) hand and machine sewing, laundering and ironing, setting costumes for show, running dressing tracks, upkeep of all dressing spaces, striking and clearing at end of day to meet safety and show quality requirements
• Responsible for show quality and integrity for all Entertainment groups, including the Disney Characters
• Assist in other duties and tasks as assigned by the Technical Production Manager including but not limited to Cast changeovers, load ins/outs, new show installs, equipment tests, vendor support and company events
• Daily responsibility for all Entertainment costume maintenance, cleaning, show set up and pack out

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum three years costuming experience in a theatrical environment required, be it college and / or professional theatre
• Proven experience leading and overseeing a theatre Tech team in regards to day-to-day responsibilities, performance, scheduling, development, and training, required
• Knowledge of costume construction and maintenance of theatrical costumes required, such as would be consistent with the function of the job; this includes a demonstrated knowledge of the handling and care of different kinds of fabrics
• Computer literacy required, minimally Excel, Word, and the use of email
• Dressing / quick change experience in theatrical productions, required
• Familiarization with using a sewing machine, required - be it industrial or home machine
• Knowledge of cosmetology or puppet construction or maintenance a plus

You must:

• Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
• Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
• Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
• If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations

Your Responsibilities:

• Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
• Complete a pre-employment medical
• Obtain a criminal background check
• Bring approved work shoes
