We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Shuttle Driver to join our team at Varsity Campus. The Shuttle Driver will be responsible for transporting students, faculty, and staff between various locations within the campus community. This position demands a high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to safe driving practices. The ideal candidate should possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. Prior experience in a similar role or familiarity with the campus environment is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive shuttle buses safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Transport students, faculty, and staff between designated stops within the campus community, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking from the shuttle, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
  • Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of the shuttle, carrying out regular inspections and reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any passenger concerns, inquiries, or requests for assistance.
  • Maintain accurate records of passenger counts, trip details, and vehicle maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to established schedules while being flexible to accommodate any unforeseen changes or delays.
  • Update route information and communicate any changes in shuttle service schedules to the campus community.
  • Monitor and report any unusual or suspicious activities occurring within or around the shuttle or at the designated stops.
  • Collaborate with the transportation team to ensure efficient and effective operations, contributing ideas for improving service quality and passenger satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must have a current New York State driver’s license Class A, B, or C with passenger endorsement.
  • Prior experience in a customer service role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws, road safety, and defensive driving techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Familiarity with the campus community or experience as a shuttle driver is a plus.
  • Able to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Physically fit and capable of assisting passengers with loading and unloading luggage or other items as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to undergo any necessary training or certifications as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible work schedule, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions when driving or waiting at designated stops.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • May be required to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
