About the team
Careem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a startup within a startup), we’re in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space.
What you'll do
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supply chain professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively, set clear objectives, and monitor team performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Delivery Schedule Management:
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of delivery schedules between Distribution Centers, Suppliers, and Stores for efficient inventory transfer.
- Ensure alignment with strategic objectives and operational requirements, optimizing schedules to enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Inventory and Returns Management:
- Supervise the timely return of damaged, expired, and non-usable items from Stores to Suppliers.
- Implement processes to improve returns handling and ensure compliance with company policies and supplier agreements.
- Data Management and Accuracy:
- Maintain and oversee master data for all SKUs, ensuring accurate product configurations, phase in/out information, and updates from Suppliers are reflected in internal systems.
- Drive improvements in data accuracy and system integration to support supply chain operations.
- Supplier Coordination and Performance Improvement:
- Lead follow-ups with Suppliers on non-delivered items, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement strategies to enhance fill-rates and reduce out-of-stock situations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Suppliers to ensure reliable delivery performance and continuous improvement.
- Promotional Stock Transfers:
- Manage and coordinate promotional stock transfers from DCs, Suppliers, and between Stores to ensure high availability and support promotional activities.
- Develop strategies to optimize stock allocation and meet promotional demands effectively.
- Strategic Initiatives:
- Identify and drive strategic priorities to enhance supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service levels.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
What you'll need
Successful candidates will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer centricity, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose.
- At least 4+ years of experience in a supply chain role or similar. Time spent in tech, logistics, or a start-up is a plus
- Bachelors in Engineering, with a focus on Supply Chain or Operations Management is a plus + Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., APICS, CSCP) are a plus..
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities, mastery of Excel is required. Bonus points for technical ability in SQL
- Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away
- High level of attention to detail & speed of execution, the role will require lots of daily operational follow ups.
- Strong communication skills, as you will need to communicate with all levels of Supplier & DC operation teams.
- Self-starter - the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role
