Job Overview:
The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Xapo’s financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in crypto accounting, proficiency in NetSuite, a strong background in regulatory reporting, and will lead the external audit process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage the accounting operations, month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and prepare external audit materials, and lead the external audit process, managing relationships with auditors.
- Implement and manage financial systems, with a strong emphasis on NetSuite, to streamline operations and enhance reporting capabilities.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee tax planning and compliance, including cryptocurrency tax implications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, including preparing and submitting regulatory reports to relevant authorities.
- Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and ensure the company’s financial practices are in line with the latest requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
- Fully qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent certification preferred.
Skills and experience
- Proven working experience as a Controller with a minimum of 5 years of leading an accounting function
- Proven track record in financial management with a focus on crypto accounting.
- Proficiency in NetSuite is essential.
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency accounting principles.
- Proven experience in financial reporting
- Extensive experience in regulatory reporting and compliance.
- Proven experience leading the external audit process.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a fintech, Banking (Financial Services) or crypto banking environment.
- Familiarity with international financial regulations and compliance related to cryptocurrency.
- Advanced Excel skills
