Frequency of Pay: Bi-weekly
Salary: $53,000 - $65,000 (DOE)
Schedule: 5 days, Monday-Friday, with some occasional overtime

The Automotive/Heavy Machinery Mechanic will be the Department's hands-on point person carrying out the day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of vehicles and farm equipment. This individual will help oversee ordering and inventory of parts and plan for how equipment will come through the shop in season and off season. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of automotive service or farm equipment repair and technical maintenance experience or have graduated from a two year automotive technician degree. They will also be familiar with service manuals, parts manuals and have good all-around mechanic aptitude coupled with a safety first mentality. Additionally, it is important to stay up-to-date with the latest technical bulletins and relevant service publications. Because of the unique work environment, when workflow allows, this role will occasionally assist the Facilities team in other capacities (painting, plumbing, electrical work, and general facilities maintenance).

This is a highly physical role. While performing these job duties, the employee is regularly required to see and reach. The employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand for long periods of time. The employee is required to use dominant hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation. The employee is also required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder level. The employee may be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, moving machinery, food allergens, and cleaning agents.Due to the nature of the farming industry, the employee may be required to work longer hours and varying schedules to reflect the business needs, which may include overtime or a Saturday or Sunday. (If business needs require work on a holiday, Stone Barns will provide a floating holiday for that day.)
