  • Description:The Senior User Experience (UX) Visual Designer is responsible for defining the visual interface design (the look-and-feel) for Manheim's digital interactive products (i.e., website, mobile, tablets, kiosk).

    Working closely with a cross-functional team to assess product requirements, the designer will create screen designs based on information design models that will be translated into user-interface interaction documentation that promote ease of use and a positive user experience

    This person is metric sensitive and understands that success is based on meeting both customer behavior and revenue goals.

    An appreciation for brand management and the ability to translate core principles into design elements is important. The ideal candidate has a strong sense for visual design, interaction design, usability, typography, and color. They must have a passion for user-centered design.

    Their portfolio must demonstrate a depth of experience with emphasis on user-interface design for digital applications, including complex data-driven web sites and multi-screen applications, with mobile experience needed.

    They must be able to translate their design concepts across platforms to show the appropriate degree of brand/style consistency while respecting the unique interactions associated with the platform.
    They will assist in development of a user interface design style guide that incorporates the visual design elements used across product user interfaces, help develop a visual design library for common user interface elements (buttons, icons, etc.) and conceive, document, and evangelize user interface guidelines and standards company wide.

    The candidate must have the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, display strong communication skills (e.g., presentation), manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

  • Requirements: · Work with internal customers to understand their design needs and timelines. Set realistic expectations about what can be delivered and when and then follow through.
    · Collaborate with Product teams to design and develop quality products that are: brand right, user-focused, easy to use, accountable to business objectives, and delivered on time.
    · Work with market research and usability to better understand the user, test the usability of features and conceptual designs, and refine designs to improve the user experience.
    · Work closely with Information Design to understand the customer scenarios as translated into interaction flow recommendations.
    · Work with Content to incorporate copy guidelines.
    · Work with Front-end Development on presentation standards (e.g., CSS) to support product consistency and efficiency, setting us up for reuse.
    · Must be able to accurately and efficiently spec and cut assets for product production (if needed).
    · Collaborate within the Design team to develop design style standards for Manheim and consistently apply them with each project. Actively present style recommendations and contribute written guidelines and specs to a Style Guide.
    · Should encourage and support production tests of design elements to optimize site performance and achieve business goals.
    · Must be able to quickly turn a high-level design concept in support of an agile development workshop.
    · Supports the unity and growth of the team by providing creative ideas and constructive feedback to other designers.


Education:Four year degree (or comparable work experience) in design, marketing, communications, or related field.
Experience:· 10-15 years of successful design experience.
· 8-12 years solid web design and other interactive channel experience. Must have significant "mobile” (web, smart and feature phone, tablet) experience.
· Management/mentoring experience a plus.
Competencies/Skills:· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
· Excellent graphic design skills coupled with the ability to conceptualize and independently design dynamic user interfaces as well as compelling static content layouts.
· Ability to design and deliver a UX that is rich, immersive, pleasing, simple, and easy to navigate.
· Mastery of Photoshop and Illustrator is required.
· Proficiency working on Macintosh Platform is essential. Some Windows experience is required.
· Proficiency with smart phone SDKs like: iOS, Android, WebOS, and more.
· Designing for iPad and netbooks a plus.
· Must have direct final art preparation and production experience.
· Is an evangelist in designing for customer needs.
· Knowledge and experience developing cohesive brand experiences. Has experience working with and maintaining a Style Guide.
· Experience with information architecture, site mapping, interaction flows/maps, wireframing, and usability testing preferred.
· Be able to understand the big picture along with expert attention to fine detail.
· Be able to convincingly articulate ideas and rationale across the company, including the executive suite.
· Avid learner. Stays up to date on latest trends and research in design, and web/mobile technologies.
· Must be able to work individually with minimal supervision/mentoring, and as a team.
· Ability to work across multiple internal business units and companies.
