Who we are looking for:

Re:Car dba Slate is looking for a skilled and motivated Facilities Engineer to join our team.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of our facilities.  The Facilities Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that our facilities meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards while implementing cost-effective solutions, especially in the context of launching new automotive vehicle projects as part of the manufacturing engineering organization.

  • Prioritize safety above all to protect our team members, partners, and customers.
  • Plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of facilities, with a focus on supporting the launch of new automotive vehicle projects.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering teams, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement facility projects in alignment with vehicle launch schedules.
  • Manage facility improvement projects, Pilot vehicle office and shop facility specific to the unique requirements of automotive manufacturing, from conceptualization to completion.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance and repair needs related to automotive manufacturing processes and coordinate necessary actions.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for critical systems and equipment supporting automotive production.
  • Manage facility budgets, ensuring optimization of costs for maintenance and improvement projects related to automotive manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities, with a particular emphasis on automotive manufacturing safety standards.
  • Oversee security systems and protocols to safeguard the facility, with consideration for the security requirements of automotive manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the manufacturing engineering organization to address facility-related needs and requirements for automotive vehicle launches.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, especially those contributing to automotive manufacturing facility projects.
  • Implement energy conservation initiatives and sustainable practices specific to automotive manufacturing facilities.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for facility-related issues in the context of launching new automotive vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain facility documentation, including blueprints, manuals, and records, with a focus on the unique requirements of automotive manufacturing.


What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license and Master’s Degree are a plus.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Facility Engineer or in a similar role, with a track record of successfully supporting automotive vehicle launches.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and facility management principles and best practices, especially in an automotive manufacturing context.
  • Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and execution, with a focus on automotive manufacturing facility projects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and address facility-related issues promptly, specifically those impacting automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards relevant to automotive manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation practices and sustainability initiatives in the context of automotive manufacturing.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Certification in Facility Management (CFM) is a plus.
