TITLE: Sr. Civil Designer
TYPE: Direct Hire
LOCATION: 100% Remote (Must live within 90 minutes of Philadelphia)
START DATE: Q4 2023

We are looking for a Sr Designer who will be responsible for generating economic and achievable stormwater management and erosion management designs with little input from Project Managers. Prepare accurate, complete, print-ready designs, calculations, and reports pertaining to stormwater management and erosion control that follows published company templates and standards that need only minimal drafting QAQC by the CAD department. Stay up to date on regulations pertaining to floodplains, stormwater, riparian buffer, and wetlands.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Soley create Preliminary Grading Plans & SWM Due Diligence Summaries per posted company guidelines.
  • Analyze theoretical layout plans drafted by the CAD Department for opportunities to further diminish regulatory burden and decrease construction timing/costs without forfeiting project goals and relating these to the Project Manager.
  • Draft stormwater and grading designs and create SWM and overall grading strategy.
  • Draft Scope of Work paperwork for infiltration testing.
  • Compose E&S design plans/reports/calculations/details, appointing tasks to less-experienced staff where advantageous.
  • Compose SWM/PCSM design calculations, appointing tasks to less-experienced team members where advantageous.
  • Pinpoint and record (on the applications and plans) all needed variances and waivers related to stormwater management, drainage, and grading; compose draft justifications for audit and approval by the Project Manager.
  • Uphold posted company guidelines for CAD-generated deliverables in related to SWM and E&S designs and take responsibility of the final output of Drainage Plans, PCSM plans, Grading Plans, E&S Plans, and related details, notes sheets, and profiles.
  • Execute earthwork calculations.
  • Organize the preparation of utility and road profile plans by the CAD Department.
  • Develop complete, accurate conservation district/DEP application paperwork.
  • Evaluate agency review letters and create draft replies.
  • Organize outreach to agency review personnel with the Project Manager for remarks related to stormwater drainage, management, grading, or erosion control.
  • Support the Project Manager in establishing scope-of-work and hour budgets in relation to kick-off meetings.
  • Develop flood studies and related analyses for necessary federal and state permitting.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of civil land development experience.
  • Expert stormwater design and management skills.
  • Skills with E&S Controls.
  • Experienced with NPDES.
