Carson Dellosa, a division of IXL Learning, is looking for a detail-oriented Production Designer to join our dynamic publishing team. As the focal point between the product team and print and manufacturing vendors, you'll coordinate the files and print schedule for multiple publishing projects, maintaining best-of-class file preparation, archiving, and product spec development to deliver best-selling educational products to millions of learners worldwide. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, able to work independently and as a team member, and love problem-solving in a highly creative atmosphere.
This is a full-time position in our Greensboro, NC office.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Coordinate and organize tasks to complete projects according to established schedules and deadlines
- Conduct pre-production steps including organizing, prepping, and converting files, tracking fonts, building templates, writing spec sheets, and posting files for vendors
- Conduct post-production steps including archiving files, reviewing and approving proofs and samples, updating files for reprint, and entering required data into databases for tracking purposes
- Conduct art/design/production checks at all stages
- Create, revise, and reformat InDesign files to meet project requirements. Provide layout templates to the art & design department for new projects with parameters and common art pieces in place
- Interface with manufacturing and print vendors to ensure correct file setup and on-time delivery of files
- Resolve questions between the internal sourcing department and external manufacturers
- Conduct art & design department staff training on new procedures. Create and define cross-departmental working procedures and systems as business changes/evolves
- Create eBooks from final, print-ready files for digital distribution
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2–3 years of related production experience
- Highly efficient in Adobe CC, specifically, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
- Working knowledge of legacy program conversion, specifically Quark
- Strong organizational skills
- Team- and detail-oriented
- Able to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
