As a Technical Consultant, you will utilize your knowledge and experience to design, develop and deploy solutions for an array of technologies. You will work with a collaborative team, mentoring associates and ensuring development efforts are well documented and delivered with quality. A Technical Consultant is an experienced field professional, who combines a breadth of knowledge across open-source and cloud technologies with external customer delivery experience. They are expected to participate in customer engagements and exhibit commercial awareness along with applicable communication skills.  You will work with customer service owners, process owners and various service delivery groups and participate in customer engagements, demonstrations and meetings in a professional and courteous manner.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Participate on project teams to deploy solutions across open-source and cloud technologies
  • Participate in architecting open-source and cloud related technology solutions involving such challenges as storage, messaging, streaming, analysis, scalability, development operations and security
  • Support pre-sales Professional Services teams to drive open-source and cloud technologies providing technical expertise to Ahead and our customers
  • Participate in customer requirements and design to achieve customer’s business goals, contributing to scoping, planning, implementing, testing and methodology
  • Participate in development and testing activities in customer engagements with limited supervision
  • Participate in the design of complex solutions
  • Participate in the creation of written deliverables
  • Participate in client workshops
  • Participate in client demos and working sessions
  • Influence direct team members and external customers regarding policies, best practices and procedures
  • Support senior team members and project leaders
  • Obtain and maintain certifications with associated qualifications
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project collateral
  • Communicate with external customers involving moderately complex negotiation and explanation of deliverables
  • Work to influence direct team members and external customers at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Understands performance, scaling and functional characteristics of software technologies
  • Mentor junior staff and support project leadership

Qualifications

  • Customer facing role for min. of 3+ years
  • 3+ years designing, securing and deploying large-scale applications and solutions
  • Awareness with one of the major cloud vendor environments (development, access, migration)
  • Proven skills in a given area (as measured by certification/approved training completion/proven abilities)
  • Strong development skills in open-source and cloud technologies
  • Moderate skills integrating third party tools and solutions
  • Proficient in .Net Core and React.
  • Experience in at least one messaging protocol (ex. Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, etc.)
  • Effectively communicate with, and present to delivery, sales and customer teams
  • Strong project and situational awareness
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter

Expectations

  • Seasoned professional individual contributor
  • Perform core project work with limited supervision
  • Provide data and situational analysis and in-depth evaluation for individual technologies (such as messaging, data flow, transformation and storage, cloud platforms and their respective capabilities).
  • Author and coordinate technical documentation
  • Coordinate cross-team and practice initiatives as necessary to support Professional Services 
  • Ability to understand open-source and cloud use-cases, and recommend standard design patterns commonly used in such solutions (best practices)
  • Can lead written deliverable creation within their area of expertise and drive projects to successful completion
  • Strong working knowledge to own components of a complex solution
  • Can clearly articulate the scope of the project and work they are tasked to perform 
  • Can articulate how their work relates to the business objectives for the project
  • Proactively assist project management with concerns and solutions concerning project support and potential overruns
  • Initiate and participate in authoring PCR requests when additional work is being requested
  • Identify client requests that are out of scope and escalates to the project manager or sales team
