The Impact of a AI Engineering Manager at Coupa:
We are seeking a hands-on AI Team Manager with deep expertise across the full spectrum of AI product development. This role combines both technical leadership and people management, requiring a versatile skill set across machine learning, data engineering, and full-stack application development, with a particular emphasis on application development. As a central team player, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape and implement AI applications that influence our entire company and drive our strategic AI differentiation.
What You'll Do:
- Leadership & Management: Manage, mentor, and guide a talented team of AI engineers, data scientists, and developers, fostering growth and collaboration
- Technical Expertise: Lead hands-on development efforts across machine learning, data pipelines, and application architecture, especially focusing on scalable, reliable, and production-ready AI applications
- AI Product Development: Design, implement, and refine AI solutions that push the boundaries of generative AI, particularly in chatbot technologies and other intelligent applications that align with our procurement solutions
- Collaboration & Strategy: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize AI-driven features and solutions that support the company’s strategic objectives
- Innovation: Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI and assess their potential impact on our product suite, integrating relevant innovations where applicable
- Scalability & Reliability: Ensure the robustness and scalability of AI systems, balancing cutting-edge functionality with real-world application and ease of maintenance
What You Will Bring to Coupa:
- Technical Skills:
-Strong proficiency in full-stack development and a hands-on approach to application engineering
-Solid foundation in machine learning and data engineering practices
-Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks commonly used in AI (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, SQL, etc.)
-Experience with deployment and scalability challenges of AI models and applications in production environments
- People Management Experience: Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing technical teams
- Strategic Insight: Understanding of the AI landscape, particularly in generative AI and chatbot development, with the ability to translate business goals into impactful AI products
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in procurement or business spend management is a plus but not required
The estimated pay range for this role is as follows:
•Based in California: $191,250 - 225,000
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
