AvantGarde, LLC (AG) seeks to engage a Federal Human Resources Assistant supports the AG client on site at the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), a Title II agency, in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Human Capital Management Division, Talent Acquisition and Classification Branch.  The position is expected to provide program support to the Talent Acquisition and Classification Branch; is a Full-time position anticipated at 40 hours a week, and the work will remotely while pandemic conditions continue, but some onsite client work in Washington, DC, will eventually be required.

 

THE WORK

  • Assists HR Staffing Specialist with the full life cycle “cradle to grave” tasks in performing journey level hands on staffing functions for AOC.
  • Assists HR Staffing Specialist with administrative support regarding talent acquisition, processes and procedures; completing and reviewing forms on employment matters.  
  • Assists HR Specialist with pay setting in accordance with AOC policies and applicable OPM rules and regulations.
  • Obtains, verifies and notifies candidates of the status of their application and responds to their questions regarding the recruitment process.
  • Codes SF-52’s and does some processing within EmpowHR.  Computes service computation dates for new hires.
  • Coordinates pre-employment activities for selected candidates.
  • Closes out case files for filled positions.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in a Federal HR Office is highly desired. 
  • Strong working knowledge of the MS Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Requires 1 year of experience processing actions in NFC/EmpowHR
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with clients
  • Ability to work independently

 

Other Specifications*

  • Operation of a PC in an office environment
  • This is a primarily sedentary position
  • Some bending, light lifting may be required
  • Must work 5 days per week on a pre-arranged and approved schedule within normal work hours (i.e., between the hours of 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.). 
  • Must pass a standard AOC background suitability check.

 

The CLIENT

Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is a very, fast paced and multi-organizational agency. The agency has special classification and pay authorities and does not follow the standard OPM pay authorities. The AOC is governed by Title 2 rather than Title 5. As such, it has considerable flexibilities not usually available in most Executive Branch Agencies. The HR function for the agency is a lean organization with high priorities. Suitable candidates must be able to work at an optimal level in support of achieving the goals of the organization. Candidates also need to be flexible in their approach and style to learn the agency’s hiring authorities.
