We're currently looking for a skilled and creative Senior Vegetation Artist, to join an unannounced AAA project at Avalanche Studios Group in Stockholm!
As a Senior Vegetation Artist, you will be tasked with crafting stunning game environments for our games, focusing on natural biome content. You will collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to create art for our world and all of its components, where we expect you to take your assets from conceptual mockups through modeling, texturing and making the assets performant in the game.
We are looking for someone who can create landscapes in a variety of art styles, from realistic to stylized. You should know how to distribute materials and plants and use vegetation assets and ground textures. In addition, you will be expected to drive the quality benchmark for your discipline while managing your time to match the project’s goals.
What you'll do
- Create high-quality vegetation assets like trees, plants, and foliage.
- Work independently from concepts to implement the project's vision.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and other disciplines.
- Optimize assets for performance without compromising quality.
- Contribute to best practices for art pipelines and tools.
- Innovate with new creative ideas and solutions.
- Support, guide, and provide feedback to peers and outsourcing partners.
- Lead specific project areas and mentor less experienced colleagues.
Who you are
- Extensive experience as a Vegetation Artist or a similar role.
- Proficient in modeling, texturing, sculpting, and using tools like Maya, Substance Painter/Designer, Zbrush, and Photoshop.
- Skilled with procedural generation tools such as SpeedTree and Houdini.
- Capable of taking full responsibility throughout the art pipeline.
- Strong understanding of art fundamentals and an artistic eye for detail.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
To be considered for the position you need a portfolio showcasing your artistic skills and examples of your work. We offer hybrid working; 60 % from the office, and 40 % from home.
Note: Research shows under-represented groups in the industry (especially women) might not apply to a job if they don’t check off every requirement. At Avalanche, we’re more about your drive to learn and interest in tackling challenges than what’s on your resume! So don’t stress if you don’t tick every box— shoot us your application anyway! Diverse opinions and different experiences are what make our teams so great, not itemized lists of qualifications.
