Primarily responsible for maintaining equipment in run-ready condition, thereby reducing down time and increasing cost effectiveness and efficiency. Manages all maintenance-related activities on continuous miner sections and outby areas of the mine to ensure high availability and productivity.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the mine electrical system in safe and permissible condition
- Plans efficient maintenance and preventive maintenance activities and procedures that safely maximize productivity and profitability
- Works to ensure that all safety, maintenance, and cost objectives are met or exceeded
- Communicates mine plans, changes, and company policies and procedures to other supervisors & employees
- Works with the Senior Electrical Manager, Master Mechanic, and Maintenance Planner to plan and execute efficient maintenance activities that minimize downtime
- Communicate potential opportunities to improve the operation
- Communicate issues that would impact the running of a safe, productive, and cost-effective operation
- Direct electrical repair work to ensure safe and efficient completion
- Supervise all maintenance to mobile and stationary equipment in assigned area.
- Maintain communication equipment in operable condition
- Required permissibility checks on electrical equipment
- Oversee the preventive maintenance program for assigned area
- Ensure all electrical/maintenance reports required by law or company policy are completed
- Regular inspection of equipment and removing from service for repairs when required
- Order parts and supplies as needed
- Participate in the evaluation of equipment life as to rebuilds or replacements
- Interpret maintenance manuals, parts books, work orders, blueprints, and schematics
- Troubleshoot and maintain complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Work with the Supervisor of Human Resources to resolve industrial and employee relation issues, coordinate employee communications, and resolve conflicts and grievances
- Works with Office Manager/Mine Clerk to make sure all payroll systems are correct
- May perform the duties of the Shift Maintenance Supervisor on an as-needed basis
EXPERIENCE
- Must be an experienced underground coal miner with at least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience
- 3 or more years of related experience in mine operations and electrical & mechanical maintenance preferred; or possesses a degree in engineering, electronics, or a relevant industrial field and 1 or more years of experience
- Minimum 2 years underground supervisory experience (preferred)
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Regular and punctual attendance
- State issued/MSHA Underground Low, Medium, and High Voltage Electrical certification required
- State issued Underground Miner certification required
- State issued Underground Mine Foreman certification, preferred
- Minimum 5 years underground electrical experience required, or 2 years of underground electrical experience coupled with a minimum of an Associate’s degree in a field related to Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Requires working knowledge of coal mining operations, including safety, production, maintenance, and cost
- Working knowledge of underground electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, mechanics, and welding
- Understanding and knowledge of State and Federal underground electrical laws
- Experience with automation (PLC’s, HMI’s) – programming is a plus, but not required
- Experience and understanding of relay logic, breakers, fuses, vacuum contactors, transformers
- Understanding of MSHA- required circuit protections – Ground Fault, Ground Monitor, Short Circuit, Overcurrent, and Under Voltage Protection
- Job duties will be performed underground and on the surface; must be able to obtain all applicable Federal and State underground and surface certifications and successfully complete industry-approved training courses
- Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug test and background check
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship

- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
- Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)
- Must be able to work in an underground mining environment
- Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
- Ability to push/pull as needed
- Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
- Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
