TEAM
Arene's mission is to empower Toyota and its partners to deliver next-generation vehicles with hardware-agnostic software that can be updated to support new features at any time.

The Arene Software Validation Platform team aims to improve software delivery and operational efficiency in the automotive sector through advanced test, emulation, and simulation systems. The Test Rigs team constructs and integrates components for a distributed simulator, facilitating the verification and validation of vehicle system software across different domains and simulation fidelities, including hardware, native software, and models in the loop.

You will be reporting to the Team Lead. This role is hybrid - you will work in the office 3+ days per week.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
You will build a distributed virtual vehicle for testing the next generation of automatic software. You are familiar with multiple layers of the software stack, communications interfaces and protocols, and are excited to help build a state-of-the-art platform.
Automotive and/or embedded software experience will be valued, or alternatively experience building distributed systems is also valuable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver Test Rigs technical solutions with Engineers, Team Leads, Product Owners, and Managers.
  • Develop software for simulation, testing, integration, and validation, including SILS and HILS.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum development, using Systems Engineering principles.
  • Review team artifacts and provide technical support.
  • Collaborate with engineering groups in Japan and globally to accelerate development.
  • Integrate ECUs, models, and communication interfaces into a Virtual Vehicle Simulator.
  • Define strategies to advance integration-level V&V activities, expediting development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business level English
  • Computer Science, Computer Systems or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience using modern C++ and Python.
  • Experience developing software for real-time systems or system simulation, such as for robotics, automotive, semiconductors, defense or related industries.
  • Familiarity with different computing architectures, in particular either "cloud and container-based computing", or "embedded computing (e.g. SoCs, MCU, CPU)".
  • Knowledge and experience with POSIX/Linux operating systems or RTOS systems.
  • Experience with communication interfaces and protocols, in particular either networking protocols for distributed systems, such as publish/subscribe protocols such as DDS, or RPC protocols such as gRPC, / or serial interface protocols such as CAN, I2C, Ethernet, USB, PCIe etc.
  • Knowledge of testing at multiple levels: unit, feature and integration.

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Bilingual English and Japanese verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with build and test automation, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (preferably in GitHub or GitLab)
  • Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Experience delivering automotive software.
  • Knowledge or experience with safety (ISO 26262, ISO 21448, IEC 61508) and security (ISO 21434) standards.
