We are currently partnering with a global engineering firm in their pursuit to hire a Physical Engineer SME Subject Matter Expert
The primary responsibility of this position is to meticulously assess security design documentation related to infrastructure renovations and identify, and evaluate risks associated with security vulnerabilities. The position will validate the inclusion of all requisite physical security standards within these designs and to ensure that the designs are in full compliance with these standards. This position will also be responsible for conducting a range of assessments and/or risk management activities to help inform security projects and programs aimed at reducing risk to Client and enhancing the Corporation's security posture. The data from these activities will be used to inform infrastructure protection (video surveillance, access control, perimeter protection, etc.), planning, training, public awareness, assessments, audits, and operational activities at Client.
The Physical Security SME must demonstrate expertise and relevant experience in the following areas:
Security Design Reviews
Criticality Assessments/Audits
Risk Assessments/Audits (asset-specific)
Threat Assessments/Audits
Vulnerability Assessments/Audits
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Assessments/Audits
Client Corporate Security

Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) Task Order
Essential Functions
Review security designs developed by internal and external sources for compliance with CS Facility Security Design Standard
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
Perform security assessments/audits in accordance with the Corporate Security Infrastructure Protection Strategy
Perform visual inspections of an asset to evaluate and capture all security countermeasures in place
Identify and evaluate the risks associated with security vulnerabilities and work across the organization to establish mitigation plans
Ensures Corporate Security Policies and Standards are followed and adhered to
Must complete assignments with minimal supervision
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience with physical security technologies and concepts in corporate security roles
Minimum of Eights (5) years of related experience
Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification
Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with construction terminology, blueprints, and construction processes to effectively interpret construction documentation.
A deep understanding of security principles and concepts, including threat assessment, risk management, and security standards
Proficiency in physical security systems, including access control systems, vehicle barriers, intrusion detection, and lighting
Familiarity with construction terminology, blueprints, and construction processes to effectively interpret construction documentation
Previous experience in identifying security vulnerabilities and developing risk reducing mitigations
Preferred Qualifications
Visio / CAD / Bluebeam experience
Prior experience in security engineering, especially involving the design and implementation of security hardware
5+ years' experience developing and reviewing physical security designs.
5+ years' experience conducting security assessments and audits.
Experience working on construction projects, either in a security-related role or closely with construction teams
Experience within the transportation sector
Understanding of the threat vulnerability risk assessment (TVRA) process.
