We are seeking an experienced Instructor with outstanding teaching contributions, a collaborative team member with a student-centered attitude. Reporting to the Academic Chair in Academic Upgrading, you will be responsible for teaching a course in BIOL 181 (BIOLOGY 1) for the Winter 2025 term. Topics in this course include the biosphere, diversity of life, cell structure and function, photosynthesis, and cellular respiration, and selected topics in human anatomy. This course is considered equivalent to Alberta Education's Biology 20.
The course runs in person during the Winter term, and the successful applicant must be available for the following delivery pattern: TUES and THURS from 6-8:50 pm.

The Role
- Deliver engaging courses in an applied educational setting, utilizing a variety of innovative teaching methods to reach all students.
- Develop application-based learning materials and assessments tailored to students' areas of specialty.
- Evaluate students' progress and provide timely, formative feedback.
- Prepare additional study and lab materials for diverse learners.
- Provide ongoing academic support, guidance and advice to students.
- Familiarize students with available SAIT supports and make referrals as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues, sharing materials and innovative ideas to improve the student experience.
- Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), or related discipline; a graduate degree is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-secondary teaching experience. Experience teaching high school-level courses is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Intermediate-level proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and cultural competency skills.
- Excellent ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of inclusive and trauma-informed educational practices is considered an asset.
- Familiarization with current Alberta Education practices is considered an asset.
