What this job can offer you

  • As a Paralegal in the legal department, your will support our the entire legal team with ensuring that workload is properly triaged, allocated, delivered and driven to completion in the most effective manner. A key component of this role is to also manage internal stakeholders by tracking legal support ticket progress, completion and compliance with SLAs.
  • While the core responsibilities will be BAU and highly manual at first, you will work as the bridge between the Core, Legal Ops and Remote departments to progressively improve and automate many of these processes (e.g. auto-triaging).

What you bring

  • Prior experience as a paralegal or in a similar legal support role, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in triaging legal issues and managing a high volume of tasks and inquiries.
  • Solid understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation. Familiarity with various areas of law relevant to the scale-up's operations, such as corporate law, intellectual property, employment law, and data protection.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases. Ability to quickly gather, analyze, and synthesize legal information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting documents, correspondence, and reports. Ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to assess legal issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Ability to identify key issues and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Writes and speaks fluent English
  • It's not required to have experience working remotely, but considered a plus

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage intake and triage of legal support tickets by employing and improving existing methods and frameworks, working with Legal Ops to update and maintain these frameworks, and collaborating with both Legal Ops and Legal to enhance the triaging process, moving towards auto-triaging based on pre-defined criteria. Tickets are triaged directly to sub-teams when relevant.
  • Prioritize tasks based on pre-approved criteria developed with Legal Ops, and continuously improve this process through ongoing collaboration with Legal Ops.
  • Conduct preliminary ticket review, categorizing tickets per legal’s operational procedures and taxonomies, offering early guidance on self-help SOPs or material from the legal knowledge base where reasonable, while supporting knowledge capture and implementation.
  • Manage and track the progress of tasks once allocated, ensuring tasks are reallocated during absences or illness, monitoring SLA compliance, managing escalations based on set criteria, tracking tasks sent externally, and consistently reviewing and cleaning up ‘stale’ tasks.
  • Maintain internal stakeholder management by updating requestors on progress, providing certainty during times of low capacity or high volume, and educating requestors on Legal’s engagement model, self-service methods, prioritization, and escalation processes.
  • Provide ongoing reporting on workload and other key trends.
  • Offer ad hoc paralegal support, particularly to the Core team, and assist Legal Ops with operational improvements related to task intake and management.
  • Perform legal research on increasingly complex topics, supporting legal, advisory, and compliance work as needed, while improving efficiency in task review and research to deliver comprehensive responses.

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce.  We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is from $25,300 to $56,900. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
