Our client in York Region is actively looking for a Lead Production Scheduler to join their team.
Title: Lead Production Scheduler
Location: York Region, ON
Length of Assignment: Permanent
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000/yr
Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager Production Planning, the Manufacturing Scheduler is responsible for using production planning best practices to optimize production (printing, card finishing) schedules. The Scheduler will create, analyze, and maintain production updates using planning software (Tactic). The Scheduler will be key in analyzing forecasts and accommodating client needs. The Scheduler must have excellent computer skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. The Scheduler must demonstrate the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize numerous tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensures that the master production schedule is created, maintained and distributed to optimize production to meet delivery schedules and forecasted customer demand
- Create and maintain master scheduling KPIs and Dashboards to support production execution and continuous improvement
- Provide strategic input to maintain capacity vs load forecast and priority dispatch of orders
- Develop, maintain and enhance local production statistics and measurements and provide detailed reporting and analysis as required by Sales and Senior Management
- Review and validate guidelines in scheduling software Tactic; have an intimate knowledge of the sequence of production, set-up times (fixed & variable), and delay-after times
- Maintain a current database of client requirements/Service Level Agreements
- Collaborate with multiple production supervisors to communicate optimized schedules and update Tactic based on production feedback
- Add and maintain preventative maintenance windows, machine capacity changes, and labour constraints in Tactic
- Continuously track schedule discrepancies or capacity issues on a daily basis and create relevant reporting in Tactic
- Actively participates in daily manufacturing status meetings to provide schedule updates, issues or concerns • Engage with Sales & Client Services to establish schedules for incoming work (forecasted volumes) and ensure timely communication regarding schedule attainment
- Proactive approach to solving fulfillment challenges (schedule discrepancies, analyzing capacity, load balancing)
- Data mine and format information across multiple software applications
- Understanding global/ Regional forecasts in a medium/high volume - high mix manufacturing environment
Secondary Responsibilities
- Train back-up Schedulers as requested
- Other duties as required to support the changing business needs
- Comply with Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures and report any Environmental, Health & Safety hazards, incidents and concerns to the immediate supervisor/manager. Management will ensure employees are provided with job-specific Environmental, Health & Safety information and training and also ensure employees follow workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements
Work Experience:
- Extensive experience creating detailed schedules and planning modules in a manufacturing environment
- 10+ years total industry manufacturing experience in a leadership role with significant work experience in Planning, Scheduling, Supply Chain, Logistics / Warehouse or another similar role.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to build and support strong internal relationships with crossfunctional departments
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong PC skills are required (MS Office, SAP) and a willingness to become an expert with Tactic Scheduling through curiosity & practice
- ERP system experience (SAP preferred), particularly with warehouse and distribution systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proven skill set in Excel is a must.
- Exceptional analytical, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Capacity to think in careful and discerning ways to solve problems, analyze data and to recall and apply information.
- Must be able to work as a team player and maintain a positive attitude
- Working knowledge of Tactic or BOWE production tracking system is an asset
- Able to perform in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Proven analytical mindset coupled with a strong business focus directed toward a commitment to optimization and efficiency.
- Aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting with heightened attention to detail.
- A self-starter with outstanding organizational and management skills and ability to work independently while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Mgmt, Logistics, or Business related field
- APICS certification - considered an asset
- CPIM – Certified Planning and Inventory Management - considered an asset
- SAP Certified Application Associate - Production Planning and Manufacturing - considered an asset
