TEAM
Arene's vision is to enable the most programmable vehicles on the planet. The Vehicle Platform team develops and delivers the next generation in-vehicle software platform that can host applications ranging from automated driving to in-cabin experiences. The team collaborates with global partners to design, implement, and test processes and procedures, review software designs for testability, and support overall verification and validation activities. Building safe and secure software tools and platforms for next-generation Toyota vehicles requires the Arene Systems Engineering team applies engineering expertise to ensure delivery of safe and secure software products. You will report to the Manager, and this role's workplace type is hybrid - you will work in the office at least 3 days per week.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about making driverless vehicles come true and are excited to work with us to create a better future for mobility. Daily tasks include the development of automated driving software and the creation of development environments and tools. We are required to accumulate improvements based on feedback from application developers and our own tests and trials. Skills in modern software development and solid experiences in developing real time systems are the essential prerequisite.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for SubSystem and able to gather requirements from application developers who are users of the middleware and break them down into development plans within the team
- Lead planning releases and leading team members to support those plans. Passionate about achieving the many quality gates for producing in-vehicle codes.
- Develop features of framework tools and in-vehicle software in an Agile fashion, and improve functionality
- To contribute to the development of the SubSystem for which you are responsible, to make new proposals without being bound by traditional methods and scopes, and to work on unknown tasks if necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced in embedded production development and in this area and define development items
- 5+ years of software engineering experience using modern C++ and Python
- Experience in team development using configuration management systems and ticket management systems (e.g. GitHub/JIRA)
- Proficient/fluent in English and Japanese business communication
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience leading a team of about 5-8 people. Break down technical issues and assign development resources to achieve development goals.
- Familiar with agile methodologies and shipping code frequently
- Knowledge of performance and memory efficiency programming
- Experience in computer science (algorithms, data structures, computational complexity), Operating System (especially embedded OS), automotive embedded middleware (e.g. AUTOSAR)
- Experience in production in-vehicle software. In particular, it is a plus to have a perspective on software and functional safety, which is granted ASIL as defined in ISO26262.
