What You’ll Do

The WSG Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for a portfolio of capital and operations projects that are performed in service to Samsung’s real estate and workplace-oriented assets and the employees who occupy those assets. The PMO does its work by developing, maintaining and adhering to best-in-class processes, methodologies, standards, metrics, practices and policies that achieve the high standards set by WSG, CFO Organization, & Samsung. 

The PMO Sr. Manager oversees all aspects of the PMO, including communication, resource management, prioritization, governance, risk management, future planning / pipeline, team leadership, and quality control. The PMO Sr. Manager effectively balances proactive enabling of project delivery with excellent governance following the Samsung guideline with the knowledge of Samsung culture.

Location: Onsite at our San Jose office/headquarters 5 days a week with an average of 5-10% travel per month

Essential Duties:

General:

  • Ensure the PMO operates as a Center of Excellence within WSG and operate within Samsung culture.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders to ensure their involvement and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with project teams, stakeholders, and senior management, providing regular updates on project progress, milestones, and issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including business cases, project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and other relevant artifacts, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Resource Management & Prioritization:

  • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, financial, and equipment, to support project activities and enables the achievement of project objectives.
  • Provide senior management with the information needed to assess and decide which proposals / business cases have the highest potential value, impact, and strategic alignment for Samsung.
  • Interface with senior management to define project priorities, implementation opportunities, challenges, while also communicating project risks and opportunities.

Governance, Risk Management & Quality Control:

  • Monitor project performance against key metrics, identify deviations from the plan, and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget effectively, assessing impacts and communicating changes to stakeholders to maintain alignment with project goals.
  • Seek and implement efficiencies to meet or exceed the financial expectations established at project initiation.
  • Develop, implement, and govern project portfolio management processes, dashboards, templates, policies, and metrics.
  • Monitor compliance with project policies and standards.
  • Identify potential risks and issues associated with projects and proactively develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that project deliverables meet the required standards and specifications.

Team Leadership:

  • People Management: Coach and mentor project management practitioners – internal and 3rd party -- and build a sharable knowledgebase of best practices.
  • Resource Management:  Own the PMO organizational structure, and ensure it effectively balances internal project management practitioners, embedded 3rd party project management practitioners, and variable 3rd party project management practitioners.
  • WSG Leadership: Work cross-functionally with internal WSG support organizations and those outside of WSG, and ensure partnership is the cornerstone of all cross-functional work. 
  • Performance Management: Set annual performance targets for direct reports that ensure a successful PMO, and undertake performance management practices help achieve individual and collective success. 
  • KPIs and SLAs: Set all 3rd party entities involved PMO’s body (and contracted with Samsung), and ensure Business Reviews are conducted no less than quarterly, and as a condition of continuing a 3rd partner continuing with Samsung.
  • Quality: oversee Project Managers for the delivery of projects/programs on time, within scope and on budget.

What You Bring

Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience in engineering, construction, business or related fields.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of project management experience preferred.
  • PMP or similar designation/certification is highly desired.

Skills & Experience

  • Skilled at managing teams and projects within a large/very large enterprise.
  • Skilled at managing project deliverables and timelines.
  • Direct responsibility for planning, organizing and operating of a PMO similar in size and scale to that of WSG.

Additional

  • Korean language skills is a plus and/or multi-national experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes (e.g., Project and Portfolio Management Methodology - PPM).
  • Budget, cost, and profitability management skills.
  • Knowledge of resource management tools.
  • High-level of communication, interpersonal skills to cultivate and maintain relationships with Samsung internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of environments similar to that of Samsung, including labs and data centers.
  • A demonstrated general knowledge of procurement practices.
  • Excellent judgment with proven ability to identify problems and deal with complex issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly on challenging, complex, and difficult issues to develop solutions that address root causes.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to small and large groups.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resourceful when managing changing timelines and multiple deliverables.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to establish and manage a high-performance team.
  • Motivated to build relationships at all levels of Samsung, inside and outside of WSG.
  • You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.

Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training. Base Pay Range
$160,930$257,070 USD
