The Buyer/Specialist has primary responsibility for estimating, negotiating, allocating and maintaining the local broadcast buys. Responsibilities include monitoring deliveries and assisting in preparation of post buy analysis.
The Specialist must also supervise and train entry-level local broadcast buying staff.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for estimating, negotiating, placement, stewardship, securing added value, reporting, and posting of assigned markets
- Make supervisor aware of any issue and provide solutions to market problems as early as possible in negotiation process
- Track schedule deliveries and request under delivery weight
- Responsible for post-buy analysis and rationale -carefully manage posting process: checking schedules to determine poor rotations, missed spots, under delivery, etc.
- Works with their assistant to resolve discrepancies
- Oversee discrepancy resolutions and ensure timely payment
- Develop market conditions and advise supervisors of any market changes
- Write POVs (point of views) for all market specific sponsorships
- Train assistants and junior buyers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years real experience as a media buyer – TV a must, radio helpful
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Demonstrate solid technical and negotiating skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – both internally and externally
- Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to multi-task, work successfully with teams, and work under pressure
- Ability to communicate through in person meetings, phone and emails to keep strong station relationships
Yearly Compensation Range: $67,000-$75,000
Salary and Benefits
Actual base salary is determined upon factors such as experience, qualifications, training, certifications, and internal equity. The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Base salary is part of a total rewards package that includes highly competitive benefits like generous medical, dental, vision, pet insurance, commuter benefits, disability and life insurance coverage, 401(k) matching, up to 14 holidays per year, a “Do Good Day,” and unlimited PTO.
In-Office Work Schedule
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days in-office per week.
