Senior System Test Engineer (Wireline Engineering)As a member of the Wireline Engineering team, you will be responsible for the design quality of Cable/DSL/Router products with primary emphasis on Cable Modem and Cable Gateway Products. These products will incorporate one or several of the following technologies: DOCSIS, PacketCable, DNS/DHCP, IP, SIP,MGCP, DSL, PPPoX, 802.11 Wireless, Ethernet, VPN, Firewalls. The primary function of a System Test engineer at is ensuring the overall product quality and ultimate customer certification.Job Responsibilities- Set up and maintain in-house Cable, DOCSIS, PacketCable, DSL, Core Routing test setups
- Review ODMs test plans, test cases, test lab equipment, and verify test coverage.
- Reproduce difficult and critical product issues seen in the field and customer homes/Labs
- Perform product testing to verify product performance and diagnose product defects.
- Perform verification and regression testing for bug fixes. Log, track and drive to closure all bugs directly with overseas developers.
- Develop test plans from requirements and supervise QA testing both within our company and in overseas supplier's labs.
- Monitor/Manage qualification of products with customers QA lab personnel
- Understand Service Provider's customer requirements and test plans
- Create additional test cases as required to cover customer's requirements and improve retail products.
- Review Amazon Product Ratings and track common trends and HW issues
- Review industries new standards, and create a plan to integrate new standards into the lab test capabilities.
- Send regular Test Status Reports to product team with metrics to indicate overall test progress and product maturity.
- Provide input for manuals, help files, application notes and tech support web pages as needed
- Support any 3rd level technical escalations from our technical support and Service Providers. Replicate customer/field issues and work with ODMs and chip suppliers to verify solutions. This includes working with service provider operations teams to identify and diagnose field/lab issues, provide information to ODMs and verify fixes.
- Prepare service provider lab qualification documentation for new products entering certification as well as additional FW releases
- Evaluate new products, technologies and reference designs from SoC Vendors and ODMs.
Skills and Requirements - BSEE/MSEE with 2+ year experience in networking hardware/software product development
- In depth domain knowledge in IP networking for Home gateways
- Knowledge of Cable Labs DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 and related cable standards (PacketCable, CCAP, PON etc.) is highly desirable and preferred
- Knowledge of CMTS, RF configuration, DHCP/TFTP provisioning server is a preferred
- Strong understanding of home and WiFi networking
- Engineering background with significant hands-on experience
- Able to track and resolve issues and ability to get the job done with minimum supervision
- Self-Starter and able to take proactive actions after seeing issues
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP Certifications is a plus
- Teamwork: This position requires a close working relationship with the extended team, including Product engineering, Marketing, operations, sales, customer support, marketing and program management.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to summarize, articulate and report results to Product Engineering and upper management
- Experience working in a start-up environment. CableLabs or MSO Internship is experience is a huge plus
- Self-starter that works well on a team.
