The Office of Enrollment is seeking Graduate Assistants/Student Ambassadors for 2024/2025. The person(s) in this role would represent their degree program and the Institute as a whole for prospective and admitted students. The primary responsibility is to communicate with prospective students by phone, email, ZOOM or in-person (leading campus tours or hosting events), answering questions about the Institute and the program, and helping ease the transition to graduate school.
Duties to include:
● The Student Ambassador’s biographical information may be posted on the Institute website and prospective students will be offered an option to sign-up to chat with the ambassador. The ambassador must respond to these inquires in a timely manner (no more than two days later).
● Prospective student phone calls ZOOM appointments, and in-person meetings when appropriate.
● During Campus Preview Days, Ambassadors will give program specific tours to visitors as well as attend program breakout sessions to offer their student perspective on the program.
● If schedule allows, the Ambassadors will give campus tours to visitors taking place Monday-Friday 1-2pm and follow-up with an email when tours are requested.
● Host webinars and/or Hangouts for prospective and admitted students.
● Assist with off campus recruiting events.
● Call/write to newly admitted students to congratulate them and answer their pre-arrival questions.
● Create social media content for MIcommunity and external platforms.
● Work closely with the Enrollment team to determine when questions should be forwarded elsewhere and provide feedback on student conversations when appropriate.
● Front line correspondence through email, phone, and online chat with prospective students. Objective is to answer questions and facilitate introduction of promising prospects to the appropriate Assistant Director of Global Recruiting
● Salesforce Customer Relationship Management and prospect/lead processing and data entry.
● Familiarity with all MIIS degree programs and ability to answer Institute-wide FAQ’s for interested students
Requirements
● Highly detail-oriented and organized
● Strong written and oral communicator (comfortable with public speaking is a plus)
● Self-starter who can work independently, identifying tasks on their own when limited communication with staff is available
● Enthusiastic advocate for their program and the Middlebury Institute
● Good rapport within the program (i.e. good relationships with fellow students, faculty, CACS, etc.)
● Public Speaking and ability to engage students of all different backgrounds
PREFERRED
● Computer and Technology Proficient (i.e. Zoom, Outlook)
● Desire to serve as a resource and support for incoming peer students
● Experience with social media to engage students.
